Cristiano Ronaldo refused to accept $6 Million per year deal with Saudi Arabia due to human rights violations.
Portuguese star footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has rejected a $6 million per year deal for being the representative of Saudi Arabian tourism.
Middle Eastern country, Saudi Arabia hasn't given up hope of engaging a star footballer to help them out, as Lionel Messi in their sights.
According to a reputed news agency, the contract offer is acknowledged to incorporate the player doing visits to the Kingdom and his image will be used in all promotional material. But the Juventus striker has marked to “deny” the offer.
Various concerns are provoked over Saudi's human rights violations as the country wants to attract world-class sport to their home-ground. Sports and entertainment initiated part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 strategy to variegate the economy and raise its international reputation.
Although, Leonel Messi’s opinion on the deal is not yet known. Representatives of both Ronaldo and Messi, have denied to talk about the matter.
Saudi Arabia administered the Spanish Super Cup in Jeddah in 2020, with Messi’s Barcelona engaging for the trophy rivalling Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Valencia.
Last year as well, Amnesty raised concern against Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund’s tried to takeover Newcastle United FC of the English Premier League.
The takeover eventually failed after a few months of waiting to pass the league’s owners and directors test.
Amnesty International has also cautioned over this year’s Saudi Formula One race planned for Jeddah.
