Givenchy’s new designer is ready to showcase his debut Spring Collection 2021, featuring Kendall Jenner, Playboy Carti, Bella Hadid and Liam Powers.
Matthew Williams, new creative director of Givenchy for his first campaign gave a call to some of his friends and invited them to put on their own style on key pieces from his kickoff spring collection.
Playboi Carti, the American rapper picked out a mesh tank top and a dark green leather bomber jacket, letting the latter slip off his shoulder to exhibit some of his tattoos, while Kendall Jenner, perched on a cube in a second-skin red top and high-waisted pants, wearing a gold Antigona bag in the middle of her legs. Models Bella Hadid, Anok Yai and Liam Powers also modeled for Korean-born, German photographer Heji Shin against an wide range of colored backdrops.
Matthew, who is American, took a flight to New York to catch and manage the shoot, with instance of 1990s-era editorials while highlighting each individual’s personality and mood.
“My rationale is about the luxury of saturating clothes with ones personality, not just being worn by them,” Matthew said. “In each of these shot, an influential character puts on a look that shows who they are: They are the people who bring the clothes to life.”
The images are about release today on Givenchy’s social platforms, then in March publish in prime international magazines, and in February outdoor placements will begin.
In the group of featured accessories are the CutOut bag, comfy Marshmallow slides and thick chains composed of G-shaped links. Hardware is a key Matthew design signature. He also take up the house’s 4G emblem, which displays on the ads beside with the Givenchy signature.
